The history of our firm dates back to 1926, when Luther B. Plumer began selling and servicing insurance policies by way of house visits in his pickup truck. Needless to say, times certainly have changed since then.

Over the years, Hughes-Plumer & Associates has grown to proudly serve the insurance needs of thousands of individuals, families and businesses throughout New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.

HPA is an independent general insurance agency offering a complete range of insurance related products and services to our clients. Our approach is to employ a traditional and proven mix of loss control and risk management techniques with a tailored program design to satisfy your insurance needs.

Our commercial client base is quite varied, and includes public entities, financial institutions, life sciences organizations, medical, legal and accounting firms, contractors & developers, manufacturers, and, of course, traditional main street types of businesses.

As we close in on our 80th Anniversary, we understand that the insurance industry is ever changing, and we continue to change with it. Technology upgrades seem like every day occurrences, and workflows and systems are constantly being re-evaluated. However, as some things change, some things should never change. We continue to deliver our products and services based on the values established and set forth in our agency long ago, and which have made our company flourish.
